Trump Protest Shaping Up To Be YUGE – Inauguration? Not So Much… Sad!

The dreaded day is coming, everyone. In a week, President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn in as our next president.

Over 200 buses in Washington, D.C., have applied for parking at the RFK stadium during the Inauguration, but 1,200 buses have applied the Women’s March protest. There are other places buses can park, so there could be even more people. The RFK stadium has a capacity of 1,300 buses.

At President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration, over 3,000 buses applied for parking.

There are a lot of women headed to Washington, D.C. to protest at the Inauguration. According to the American Bus Association, more than 100,000 are expected to come to D.C. for the Inauguration.

According to their Facebook page, 183,000 people could be attending the Women’s March on Washington. According to their website’s about page:

“The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us – immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault – and our communities are hurting and scared. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.”

The Women’s March is taking place on the day after the Inauguration, January 21, 2017, starting near the U.S. Capitol.

The Women’s March is not the only protest planned for the day. There were over 200 permits requested for the day of the Inauguration. Over 1,800 were requested for the following day.

The Women’s March will be a peaceful protest, but there are other groups who are claiming to come and try to “disrupt” the Inauguration. We all hate Trump, but violent and disruptive protests will not help anything. Non-violent protests are what we need to make progress in a Trump administration.
