When Meryl Streep used her speech at the Golden Globes to slice, dice, and julienne Donald Trump, we knew that it would get under the president-elect’s skin. One moment alone assured us of that–Streep let Trump have it for his disgraceful mocking of disabled reporter Serge Kovaleski.
True to form, Trump flack-in-chief Kellyanne Conway claimed Streep was playing down to our “worst instincts” and deserved “the benefit of the doubt.” But it turns out that she was following her boss’ lead. Just before Conway went on the curvy couch, Trump unleashed one of his patented tweetstorms.
Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a…..

Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never "mocked" a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him…….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
"groveling" when he totally changed a 16 year old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
Hmmm, sounds like Trump needs his memory jogged. Well, I’m happy to oblige. This is footage from a Trump rally in Myrtle Beach in November 2015.
Does anyone seriously believe that Trump wasn’t making fun of Kovaleski’s disability? Well, apparently the Internet doesn’t, judging by the furious shaming that the Toddler-in-Chief received in the hours after his latest rant. BBC Radio 1 producer Mike Williams set the tone.
My word, man, stop calling people losers – as POTUS you work for every single person in America. Stop embarrassing yourself

There’s more where that came from. Here’s a sample. First, from Brisbane Times columnist Cameron Atfield.
Just the kind of thin skin you want in the Oval Office. #manbaby

Ron Howard:
Trump takes the bait & calls #MerylStreep overrated?! Please Pres-Elect. Don't make this into the WWF which is fun but not presidential
— Ron Howard (@RealRonHoward) January 9, 2017
And others as well:
He's going to President in a matter of days yet this is what occupies his mind. Narcissism to the point of deranged.
— Ryan (@ryansm_) January 9, 2017
.@realDonaldTrump #MerylStreep, unlike yourself, believes in using her wealth & platform to do good! Take notes?, you have A LOT to learn.
— Kaivan Shroff (@KaivanShroff) January 9, 2017
Took longer than I thought. Is it legal to bet on his tweets? Could make a fortune!

But the most epic response came from Tony Posnanski, best known as “The Anti-Jared” for losing over 200 pounds in a year.
Using first amendment rights is not "attacked". This is a sad thought.

Don't hate her because she has two Emmys and you have none.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
I hope next tweet says "inspiration". We have time to find out.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
Well what is she? It's been eight minutes!
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
You did. Like you called Rosie a fat pig and like you insult others to make yourself feel better about yourself.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
How are you defending that video of yourself?
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
Why didn't you just say "I appreciate Meryl's thoughts and I will strive to be a great president"? God I miss Obama already!
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
Basically you made fun of his disability because of his reporting. You mocked the way he "acts" in your mind. Period.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
What was dishonest is you saying Obama was not born in America and getting others to believe as well.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) January 9, 2017
Ouch.
Trump went into a similar rant on Facebook. From the looks of it, he’s getting a similar response. But you know what’s really telling? In the 48 hours since it emerged that one of his top national security advisers, Monica Crowley, is a serial plagiarist, all we’ve heard from Trump’s people is a boilerplate response saying that any attacks on Crowley are mere propaganda. But what have we heard from Trump himself? Nada. Zip. Zero. Bupkis.
And yet, he somehow found the time to get up at 6 in the morning and lay into an actress for criticizing him. Priorities seem to be yet another thing in Trump’s way.
