Lola Kirke Wore A ‘F**k Paul Ryan’ Pin At The Golden Globes

Lola Kirke, star of Amazon’s series “Mozart in the Jungle,” wore a small, pink button on the Golden Globe red carpet that simply stated:

“F**k Paul Ryan.”

The Button Makes A Reappearance

This isn’t the first time Kirke has worn the same pin (normally a faux pas in Hollywood fashion but I 100 percent support it). She was photographed wearing it at W Magazine’s It Girl Luncheon on Saturday as well as the BAFTA Tea Party on Sunday afternoon before the Golden Globes.

Kirke told Elle magazine of her reasons behind wearing the pin:

“Paul Ryan is talking about defunding Planned Parenthood. I think that, along with a number of other decisions that are being talked about being made by the new administration, is atrocious. As a person with a platform, no matter what size it is, I think it’s important to share your views and maybe elevate people that might agree with you, that maybe won’t feel like they can have the same voice. My body my choice, your body your choice.”

F**k Paul Ryan

House Speaker Paul Ryan has been an opponent of Planned Parenthood from the start. Just this past week he even sent six of his security guards to block Planned Parenthood volunteers from delivering boxes of petitions to his office. These petitions, with 87,000 signatures in total, were asking him to not defund Planned Parenthood. Obviously their pleas fell on deaf ears.

Kirke’s wardrobe accessory was one of many political statements that were made at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, although most shots were aimed at President-elect Donald Trump. It’s nice to see someone turning the focus on some of the pre-established figures of the GOP. It’s even nicer to hear this opinion voiced so clearly and simply:
