Progressive Sen. Liz Warren To Run Again: ‘This Is No Time To Quit’ (VIDEO)

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has just announced plans to run for reelection.

The outspoken progressive Senator has made a name for herself by speaking openly and candidly in favor of progressive causes such as Wall Street regulation.

Senator Warren remained mostly on the sidelines of the Presidential race until after Secretary Clinton had won the nomination. At that point she began to campaign prominently for the Democratic ticket.

Warren is very popular in her home state of Massachusetts where her frequent public criticism of Donald Trump has earned her even more support. During the campaign, when the Republican candidate repeatedly mocked her by calling her “Pocahontas,” Warren didn’t shy away from responding.

In announcing her intention to run for reelection in 2018, the fiery Senator sent this message to her supporters:

“The people of Massachusetts didn’t send me to Washington to roll over and play dead while Donald Trump and his team of billionaires, bigots, and Wall Street bankers crush the working people of our Commonwealth and this country. This is no time to quit.”

While Massachusetts remains the bluest of blue states, Warren could face a challenge from the popular former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who in 2004 lead the team to its first World Series in 86 years.

Schilling has become a very outspoken conservative since retiring from baseball, and has said that he’s considering running for the Senate seat. A year ago, the idea of an unqualified conservative beating out a highly successful progressive woman would have seemed ridiculous.

But this is 2017. We all lived through the shock of last November. Senator Warren put it this way:

“I don’t kid myself: the upcoming fights in the Senate — and our campaign in Massachusetts in 2018 — are likely to be uglier and nastier than anything we’ve ever imagined. I’m not taking anything for granted.”

This progressive Massachusetts liberal is encouraged to hear from Senator Warren. The fight will go on. Progressive voices will not be muted. Not even by the likes of Curt Schilling or Donald Trump.
