Disabled Man Attacked Online, So Conservatives Blame President Obama…WTF?! (VIDEO)

A video was posted on Facebook Wednesday which showed a young disabled white man being beaten by four black assailants as they shouted:

“Fu*k Trump! Fu*k white people!”

Here’s a portion of the video. WARNING: VIOLENT AND EXPLICIT CONTENT!

Suspects are in custody, and Chicago police say they will be charged with a hate crime. But somehow this entire incident is all the fault of President Obama, according to conservatives and other right-wing denizens of social media.

The “blame Obama” chorus started with conservative commentator Laura Ingraham posting this on Twitter:

Soon, Ingraham had lots of factually-challenged knuckle draggers joining her:

So it’s all President Obama’s fault? Then how about we apply that logic to the hate crimes that have been committed against African-Americans, Hispanics, and LGBT Americans since Trump won the election? According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there were 701 documented cases of harassment against minority groups from November 8 to November 18, 2016. In ten days, there were an average of 70 hate crimes per day connected to people who identified with Donald Trump. Why didn’t he come out and denounce each of those?

The deeply flawed logic used by those who think Donald Trump is the savior of the nation works both ways. And yet their hypocrisy makes their outrage empty and totally dubious. They are offended when something happens to a white person, but change the victim’s skin color and make the assailant a white person or a white cop, and suddenly the reaction from conservatives becomes, “He probably did something to deserve it.”

Violence against anyone is wrong. That’s the bottom line. But to shed tears over one victim and turn your back on another is not just hypocritical, it’s an insult to human decency and everything we’re supposed to stand for in this country.

So, please, Laura Ingraham and your hateful minions, spare us the outrage. When you’re ready to be outraged about all incidents of this type, no matter who the victim is, maybe then you can start to reclaim your nonexistent credibility.
