Paranoid Matt Drudge Accuses US Govt Of Hacking His Website (TWEETS/VIDEO)

The Drudge Report was hit by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack for about 90 minutes on Thursday, December 29, starting around 7 p.m. EDT, according to the Hill. The news of the attack, confirmed by Matt Drudge himself, came shortly after President Barack Obama announced the actions he was taking against Russia for the country’s recent interference with ours.

For a million and one reasons we will likely never know about, Drudge tweeted from his verified personal account @DRUDGE – the one he opened in 2011 but never used until Thursday – to ask:

“Is the US government attacking DRUDGE REPORT? Biggest DDoS since site’s inception. VERY suspicious routing [and timing].”

Wait… DDOS What?

Leave it to infamous conspiracy theorist and Drudge Report owner Matt Drudge to take what is probably an innocent prank and twist it into a sordid story that can only be described as a paranoid delusion wrapped in a blanket of “I wish” fantasy – complete with dripping swamp grass pulled from the bottomless pit that is his mind.

About a half an hour after Drudge tweeted his accusation, his paranoid delusions appeared to get worse as he went on to issue a second tweet from that same previously unused account, claiming that the DDOS attack was coming from “thousands of sources.”

He also hinted that the source of the attack might be coming from Fort Meade, but that of course they weren’t “traceable.”

That someone decided to have fun with Drudge Report on the same day that President Obama announced sanctions on Russia in response to, and as a punishment for, the country’s obvious and well-documented interference with the November 8 U.S. elections, and other numerous cyberattacks dating back at least a year is a coincidence at best.

Or is it?

Backing The Russian Pseudoplay

According to Breitbart:

The disruption came the same night that the Obama administration issued sanctions against Russia over unproven allegations of hacking, a claim toward which Drudge has shown skepticism.”

Oh, yes, of course! The DDOS is obviously the result Obama’s sanctions on Russia, right?

Since Steve Bannon now sits at the tippy top of the Trump-era Nazi hierarchy waiting patiently to lead his Herr Drunpf into the New Year and the Oval Office, and any attack on Russia is an attack on these modern White Supremacists and their fantasy world.

Although the DDOS did happen the same day that President Obama announced sanctions, the likelihood that the attack against Drudge Report is a result of those sanctions is slim to none.

That Drudge thinks his precious Drudge Report is important enough to be a target of the sanctions against Russia, or that Breitbart backs up their assertion is laughably paranoid.

The Truth Will Set You Free

Truth be told, there is no way to know for certain whether the U.S. government ordered the CIA or FBI to DDOS the Drudge Report or not. Maybe it did. But then again, it is highly unlikely that any U.S. intelligence agency wasted its time and resources to shut down the Drudge Report.

If it were that important, it would have been attacked a long time ago – especially if the government was retaliating – like during every single WikiLeaks email dump, or during the election season – at some point when it might have made a difference.

Now, it’s just entirely too late to do any good, so what’s the point?

Sadly, it is much more likely some script kiddie was bored in his or her eighth grade study hall and decided to have a little fun while waiting for the bell to ring, or Drudge himself managed to piss off a branch of Anonymous.

Either way, paranoia does not a conspiracy make.
