Vice President-Elect Gets Snarky ‘Welcome’ From Neighbors (VIDEO)

One thing you can say for Vice President-elect Mike Pence (R-In) is that he’s moving into a very friendly neighborhood.

While the VP-E waits to move into his official residence, he and his wife are renting a house in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of D.C. His neighbors are aware of his political views and his narrow minded conservative positions.

So they’ve decided to let him know that he and his boss don’t represent the majority of Americans.

First people in the area decided to decorate their homes with beautiful rainbow flags. They wanted to show the new Vice President that they welcome their gay and transgender neighbors and friends. They support marriage equality.

They disagree with his view that same gender marriage will cause society to crumble, so they draped their lovely homes in rainbows.

Awesome.

Now they’ve decided that they need to address Pence’s desire to limit women’s right to control their own reproductive lives. The pro-choice group NARAL canvassed the neighborhood to ask who would be willing to put up a nice lawn sign reading,

“This neighborhood trusts women.”

Simple and to the point.

NARAL reports that most of the people on Pence’s new street were happy to have a way to express their disagreement with the incoming administration. Spokesperson Kaylie Hanson said:

“Part of our charge following the election is making sure that Mike Pence knew just how off base he was with the majority of Americans when it comes to abortion access. The best way to let him know that is to go literally right to his door step and tell him.”

Mike Pence is on the record for supporting the end of funding for Planned Parenthood and the denial of federal insurance coverage for abortion. He has worked to make it a crime for minors to be brought across state lines to receive abortion services.

He is against allowing any U.S. funds to be used for abortion services abroad, even in countries where millions of babies and women die every year in the neo-natal period.

Pence’s neighbors disagree with him.

They want him to understand that he is the outlier in his misogyny. One of the signs is reportedly right across the street from the Vice President’s home, so we know he’ll see it every time he glances out his window.

Awesome.
