Big Hollywood Name Reportedly Attached To Ronald Reagan Biopic (VIDEO)

It has been claimed that a new film about the life of former President Ronald Reagan is in the cards for a big Hollywood name. The role has reportedly been offered to Nicolas Cage, who is currently considering whether it is a good move for his career. This film is to portray the former Republican president in a flattering light. Cage’s publicist has said:

“It’s way too early in the development process.”

This new biopic is supposed to be a serious look at Reagan’s time as president. As opposed to the comedy film “Reagan” starring Will Ferrell, which he pulled out of last spring. The storyline of the Ferrell film version of Reagan’s presidency was centered around the idea that he had Alzheimer’s and had been convinced that he was just an actor playing the role of president. Will Ferrell abandoned his critical version of Ronald Reagan after much criticism from Reagan’s children. They both attacked Ferrell for making fun of Alzheimer’s disease.

Reagan was not actually diagnosed with the degenerative disease until five years after his presidency. He was famous for at times forgetting what he was saying during a speech and once famously called Princess Diana Princess “David.” It is worrying that this man had nuclear capability, just as it is deeply concerning that Trump has that power now. Only Trump has the added loaded weapon of social media. Twitter has shown us Trump cannot control himself through his impulsive, childish, and over-reactive comments.

Reagan’s legacy is a mixed one. While he escalated a hugely dangerous Cold War with Russia, he also played a huge role in the agreement to disarm with former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev. Reagan’s presidency raised eyebrows in that he had been an actor in his younger days. However, even Reagan had more experience than current President-elect Donald Trump who had zero political or military service before winning the election.
