Omarosa Manigault, best known for her role as the villain of The Apprentice‘s first season, has officially joined president-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.
This news comes as no surprise: In July, Omarosa was named Trump’s head of black outreach. She played a key role in the campaign, and she was right there at Trump Tower HQ on election night.
As a campaign surrogate, Omarosa made Trump sound like a cross between He-Man and Hitler:
“Every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump. It’s everyone who’s ever doubted Donald, who ever disagreed, who ever challenged him. It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe.”
When United States Senator and lucky little leprechaun Lindsey Graham (R – SC) announced on Twitter that he voted Evan McMullin for president, Omarosa remarked that Trump keeps a list of his enemies:
“It’s so great our enemies are making themselves clear so that when we get in to the White House, we know where we stand… If [Graham] felt his interests was with that candidate, God bless him… I would never judge anybody for exercising their right to and the freedom to choose who they want. But let me just tell you, Mr. Trump has a long memory and we’re keeping a list.”
Though she’s best known for her TV appearances, Omarosa actually does have experience in politics. During the Clinton administration, she worked for the Department of Commerce. It didn’t work out though, according to former Under Secretary for Technology at the Commerce Department, Cheryl Shavers:
“She was asked to leave as quickly as possible, she was so disruptive… One woman wanted to slug her.”
Omarosa also worked as a scheduling correspondent at then-Vice President Al Gore’s office. One former Gore staffer said:
“She didn’t do her job, and it got everybody in trouble.”
We’ll see how long she holds on to this next White House gig.
