A professor from Orange Coast College in California is in hiding after getting death threats following her criticism of President-elect Donald Trump in a class on human sexuality. How does conservative commentator and radio host Ben Ferguson respond? By calling for “safe spaces.”
Oh, The Hypocrisy!
After years of conservatives calling liberals pejorative names and ridiculing the idea of safe spaces, Ben Ferguson now thinks maybe Trump voters need those safe spaces.
Ferguson appeared on CNN alongside Democratic strategist Keith Boykin, and Boykin was shocked that Ferguson was “offended” by an unknown professor from Orange Coast College but could still support Trump:
“You’re offended by a little-known teacher in Orange County who you’ve never heard of before, but you’re not outraged by the bazillion things that Donald Trump has said throughout the past year and a half? What effing hypocrisy! That is total, unmitigated hypocrisy.”
Ferguson went on a rant about how there is no “tolerance” from liberals for opposing points of view and that conservative students don’t feel “safe” on college campuses.
Note to conservatives: tolerance does not mean tolerating bigotry. If people decide to make racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Semitic, hateful comments, you can bet your ass liberals will call them on it. Conservatives tend to whine about tolerance when it steps on their desire to be assholes.
Regarding Ferguson’s comments on tolerance and safe spaces, Boykin could not contain his incredulity:
“I can’t even wrap my head around the discombobulation that came out of your mouth here. Conservatives are the ones who’ve been saying for decades that you don’t need safe spaces.”
Does Ben Ferguson even pay attention to such things? In one breath, he’s calling for safe spaces for Trump-voting college students, but then, ON THE SAME DAY, he ridiculed the idea of safe spaces on his own Facebook page:
Ferguson is more concerned about what a teacher at a small community college says than he is about what the goddamn PEOTUS says. Trump has verbally assaulted every minority in this country, and he has a lot more power than a community college professor in California.
But conservatives care not for such things.
What effing hypocrisy, indeed.
