David Axelrod Fumes Over Trump’s Twitter Rants, Calls Him ‘Epically Thin Skinned’ (TWEET/VIDEO)

A former senior advisor to President Barack Obama is fed up with President-elect Donald Trump’s whining about the media. David Axelrod appeared on the CNN program The Situation Room on Monday, and pulled no punches when it came to his assessment of how Trump has handled the press since the beginning of his campaign.

Axelrod said:

“I don’t know any president who loves the press that covers him, because the job of the media is to take a critical look at the administration. But, Donald Trump is epically thin-skinned. And his notion is, ‘if you write nice things about me’ or ‘if you say nice things about me then I will play with you but if not I will go over your head and tell my version of the truth.'”

Axelrod’s breaking point appears to be Trump taking to his favorite method of communication, Twitter. Trump whines about his representation of so-called “Liberal mainstream media” sources, and has for months.

He did so again with this Tweet yesterday:

So apparently, saying only nice things about Donald Trump is the only way to be considered accurate and honest in his book. Hardly the spirit of the First Amendment.

David Axelrod agrees:

“There’s real danger in this for our democracy because part of the check on unbridled power is a free press and for a president to say ‘I don’t really believe in that,’ is a little bit frightening.”

Because when you have government control of the media, then you may appear to be a little bit fascist. The Bill of Rights is more important now than in the last half-century. As Trump’s attacks on the media continue, the media is obligated to push back just as hard.

Don’t like the truth, Donald? Tough. It is not going anywhere, and you can’t bury it.
