On Thursday, December 1, a Woodland Hills High School student was arrested. It is worth mentioning the teen is enrolled in a special needs program. According to the Houston Chronicle, he was recording his principal threatening him with violence.
In a video of the exchange Principal Kevin Murray can be heard saying:
“I’ll punch you right in your face, dude … I’ll knock your f***ing teeth down your throat”
That’s one classy principal, am I right? But that’s not all… Though the principal is blatantly making threats of gross bodily harm, which is against the law, local law enforcement saw fit to only arrest the teen – under the charge of wiretapping.
Funny enough, the principal also said in the video:
“When we go down to court, it’s your word versus mine. And mine wins every time.”
Wiretapping; is this the Cold War? Is the teen a Soviet spy? Give me a break. Not to mention, the government engaged in warrantless wiretapping throughout the early 2000s.
However, the teen has a history of recording school staff, according to Trib Live. He recorded a school counselor interrogating him in regards to a murder a classmate was involved in.
Last I checked guidance counselors don’t fill in for homicide detectives. The counselor also didn’t notify any parent or guardian. How is that even legal? Why aren’t the principal and the guidance counselor in handcuffs? The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office has been in contact with Churchill Police regarding the case.
Spokesman Mike Manko weighed in:
“It’s important to note that cases involving potential violations of the wiretap act are complicated…”
Really? Apparently, not as complicated as cases involving terroristic threats and interrogating a minor without a parent guardian. They easily arrested the 14 year old, but only placed the principal on leave.
What the fuck, Allegheny County?
One can argue the legalities of a student recording school officials without their consent; however, considering everything that has been going on at that school, can you honestly blame him?
