‘I Wish I Hadn’t Voted’: Trump Voter Betrayed, Treasury Pick Foreclosed On Her Home (VIDEO)

Teena Colebrook is like millions of other Americans. She paid her mortgage and other bills on time. She worked hard, and she invested her earnings.

In fact, the California woman invested in real estate. She owned her home, and also two rental units. Those rental units in her triplex provided her main source of income.

You can understand why Donald Trump, the man who prides himself on his real estate smarts, would appeal to her.

Like millions of overly optimistic Americans, Colebrook believed that in Trump she had found a candidate who truly intended to help out the average working person.

Like millions of her fellow citizens, she is now suffering from a bad case of buyer’s remorse. She is particularly disgusted by Trump’s choice of Steven Mnuchin to run the Treasury Department.

Colebrook said:

“I just wish that I had not voted. I have no faith in our government anymore at all. They all promise you the world at the end of a stick and take it away once they get in.”

During the Great Recession, all of Colebrook’s renters lost their jobs, according to a story in the Associated Press. Her rental income dried up, and she found herself unable to keep up with the mortgage payments on her triplex.

Unfortunately for her, her local bank had been bought out by a group called OneWest. OneWest had taken over the failing Indy Mac mortgage company. That left the government to absorb millions of dollars in losses through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, which guarantees bank loans.

Now Colebrook was struggling to restructure her loans in order to save her property and her home.

She learned the hard way that OneWest was earning a reputation as one of the most difficult bank entities to deal with during the recession. Colebrook told the Associated Press that the bank repeatedly lost her paperwork, gave her conflicting information on who currently held her loan, and charged multiple unverified fees. The result, of course, was that her mortgage payments kept increasing, the further behind she fell.

In the end, OneWest foreclosed on Teena Colebrook. She lost her life savings and her home.

So, how does this related to President elect Trump and Colebrook’s changed feelings about him?

The man who owned OneWest was Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s pick for Secretary of the Treasury.

Teena Colebrook wishes that she could talk to Mr. Trump, to explain to him just how angry she is and how betrayed she feels. Talking about the President-to-be, she said:

“He doesn’t want the truth. He’s now backing his buddies.”

As tempting as it is to shake our heads at the gullibility of those who actually believed Donald J. Trump would work for them, you have to feel some sympathy.

Teena Colebrook took Trump at his word when he said he’d “drain the swamp” and give power back to the citizens. She fell for his promises to stop enriching the elites in Washington.

She fell for the lie.

Now she is sharing space with her boyfriend and volunteering her time at a homeless shelter, knowing how close she came to ending up in one herself.

Oh, and as for OneWest?

In 2014 Mnuchin sold the bank for $3.4 billion.
