Megyn Kelly ROYALLY Screws Up Defending Melania

In an interview with Net-a-Porter’s Porter Magazine that came out Friday, Megyn Kelly was quoted saying that President-elect Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, had received unfair, “staunch feminism,” which made no sense at all.

Kelly took the time to discuss how she did not want to get “mired in feminism,” and then switched over to country’s response to Melania Trump. Kelly told the magazine:

“She’s been subjected to some really staunch feminism, and I’ve been really offended on her behalf.”

Another publication, The Cut, reached out to Porter to confirm that, of course, Kelly meant “staunch sexism” not feminism but Porter did not retract and stood by her publication saying that Kelly indeed had said “staunch feminism” when speaking about the First Lady-elect. In the interview Kelly continued by stating:

“The New York Times called her a trophy wife and a mannequin which is f-ed up and really offensive. Just because she’s gorgeous doesn’t mean you get to dismiss her. She speaks I think five languages. She’s a mother. She’s a supportive wife. She’s an entrepreneur. I don’t know how successful her businesses are, but she’s out there trying. Screw them for saying that.”

What Kelly should have said, was sexism, not feminism and because a retraction wasn’t made she is only perpetuating more hate towards the feminist movement. Feminism in its simplest definition is an inclusive movement that looks for equality for all of the sexes, not just women, but they have been painted as the angry social pariah for so long, and Kelly’s misspeak doesn’t help.

A representative for Megyn Kelly just came forward claiming that Kelly did, in fact, say sexism and that the magazine misquoted, but after Porter stood by the quote initially, it looks like Kelly is just trying to save face. Porter has yet to confirm whether Kelly’s rep is speaking the truth or not.

Either way, as members of the media, myself included, we need to make sure we are very careful with our words in today’s revolution based society, especially when we are facing a President-elect Trump future.
