Trevor Noah: Media Should Treat Trump Like A Toddler (VIDEO)

Granted, the Daily Show is not as funny since Jon Stewart retired and left the show, but every now and then Trevor Noah manages to make a really good observation that makes you think and also laugh.

Tuesday evening was one of those times.

The premise of Noah’s commentary was that Donald Trump doesn’t believe in using facts, which makes him a great deal like a child. More specifically, like a toddler. As the host noted:

“Facts mean nothing to him.”

But seeing as how the rest of us deal in the factual, rational world, how in the hell do you manage to handle Trump, especially if you happen to be a member of the news media? Noah had a suggestion:

“Don’t amplify the toddler’s voice… ask the toddler to elaborate, because logic is the downfall of every toddler.”

Exactly! If you ask a person who constantly lies, the best way to trip them up is to ask for details. You don’t just let them get away with the lie, and you don’t try to argue with them, because that’s a losing proposition. But if you ask for elaboration, you force the liar–or the toddler–produce verifiable facts. Otherwise, the person is just spouting off and being allowed to spew their nonsense.

One of the examples Noah gave was Trump saying that millions of people voted illegally and that’s why he lost the popular vote. So the follow-up to that clearly ludicrous assertion is to ask Trump: So, did you see any unregistered people voting? Do you have specific examples of this fraud? No, he doesn’t, so you’ve just shut him down and proven him wrong.

This is a brilliant strategy to use against Trump. I say we all begin filtering his nonsense through this matrix and the next four years will go much more smoothly. Also, it’s bound to piss off Trump, and what’s not to like about that?
