Sorry, Donnie – No Elton John For You (VIDEO)

Inaugurations are pretty dull affairs when you get down to it. The main event of the day is a man (though someday it will be a woman) repeating an oath that has been spoken by every president in history. The monotony of the affair is usually broken up with celebrity performances. But what’s a president to do when everyone hates him?

Celebrities Saying Hell No To Inauguration Performance

In an interview with BBC, Anthony Scaramucci, a member of President-elect Trump’s transition team, said that Sir Elton John would perform at the inauguration after saying that Trump:

“… Will be the first American president is U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance.”

Even if we give Trump the benefit of the doubt here, the fact remains that Mike Pence is his Vice President. And Mike Pence is one of the most anti-LGBT officials out there.

However, back to that Elton John comment.

John responded, and quickly. His publicist denied Scaramucci’s claim saying:

“Incorrect. He will NOT be performing.”

Scaramucci tried to say that his comment was a simple mistake, though the video says otherwise. He seemed awfully confident at the time.

During the campaign, when Trump used his song “Tiny Dancer,” Elton John reportedly said:

“I’m not a Republican in a million years. Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent?”

So Who WILL Be There?

As of this writing, we only know who WON’T be there.

Mick Jagger tweeted the following after Trump used a Rolling Stones song at his victory speech:

Vince Neil, frontman for Motley Crüe, said they were invited to perform months ago, but that the invitation was rescinded after Trump won the election:

“So we were invited, then it turns out when the Republicans won, we were uninvited.”

I guess we have to assume that crotch-grabbing Ted Nugent will be there. But is that it?
