As if this election season wasn’t crazy enough, President-elect Donald Trump is still hawking campaign merchandise. He’s already snagged the election, we don’t need more of his merchandise.
The description on the product page reads:
“Get in the Christmas spirit with your very own Make America Great Again Red Cap Collectible Ornament. Made of brass and finished in 24 carat gold, this ornament is sure to make any tree stand out.”
The money is going to a joint fundraising campaign with Trump and the Republican National Committee. You can get your own for $149, and it is supposedly finished in 24-karat gold.
A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, Hope Hicks, says that the ornaments were made in America.
They sent out an email to supporters:
“President-elect Trump loves Christmas and makes a point of proudly saying ‘Merry Christmas’ every chance he gets.”
The email description of the ornament and the karats of gold it uses reads differently from the actual product description:
“…In the shape of the classic red MAGA hat, finished with 14k gold.”
Which is the Trump ornament buyer getting? No one seems to know so far.
Trump definitely does love Christmas. Last year, he said that he would be “forcing” everyone to say “Merry Christmas.” This is a common bit of right-wing nonsense. They think that there is some kind of “war” on Christmas just because we say “Happy Holidays” instead.
He also got mad about the Starbucks cups. They were plain red cups. Trump and his supporters thought the cups should have something more Christmas-related, like they used to be in prior holiday seasons.
