The Election Isn’t Over Yet – Meet The Democrats’ Last Glimmer Of Hope For The Senate (VIDEO)

There’s still one more election day on the horizon. No, not the meeting of the Electoral College on December 19. The Louisiana runoff election on December 10. Less than one month until the people of Louisiana choose a senator to replace retiring David Vitter. And there is a chance we could flip one more seat to blue.

Enter Foster Campbell

A Democrat in a deep red, deep South state sounds like a pipe dream. But Foster Campbell is no ordinary Democrat. According to Medium:

“Through four decades of listening to those around him, he built up a huge network of support in a deeply Red State. He’s stood up to big Tobacco companies, fought to fund schools, and led a campaign to lower the high cost of telephone calls from Louisiana jails and prisons. In 2008 he was elected to the Louisiana Public Service Commission with more than 78 percent of the vote.”

See that last bit there? “…More than 78 percent of the vote.” This guy could win.

Campbell’s win would mean a 51-49 Senate, rather than a 52-48 one. Yes, the Republicans will still have a majority, but only by the slimmest of margins. There are still reasonable Republicans in that swamp.

With things like the Affordable Care Act, funding for Planned Parenthood, and the very planet on the chopping block, every seat matters.

And this is where we all come in.

Rally Around Foster Campbell For Senate

You don’t have to live in Louisiana to help Campbell in his bid for this enormously important Senate seat. My family sent a donation just yesterday from the upper Midwest. You can, too. If every fan of the Liberal America Facebook page sent him $5, for instance, he’d have nearly $3.5 million.

So get involved!

  1. Go to Campbell’s website to learn more about his ideas. He believes in equal pay for equal work, paid family leave, and expanding access to health care. He is a fighter for the middle class, for students struggling with debt, and for the rights of people with disabilities.
  2. Donate to him here. Give any amount that you can spare, because every dollar counts.
  3. If you live in Louisiana — or if you’re nearby and can get to the state — volunteer for his campaign.
  4. Join a phone bank for Campbell here.
  5. Spread this information to every liberal you know. Make sure they know who Campbell is and the importance of this last seat.

Remember this, too: The Republicans know how important this seat is, and you can bet that they will rally hard behind Campbell’s opponent, John Kennedy.

Democrats need to rise to the occasion and support Campbell.
