20,000 People Donated To Planned Parenthood Just To Piss Off Mike Pence (TWEETS/VIDEO)

The presidential election results were quite disappointing for many of us. Our President-elect is a former reality TV star and business man, Donald Trump. He has insulted and alienated just about every group you can think of except for straight, white, males.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence is scary as well, he just wasn’t so flamboyant about it. He is very anti-women’s health, anti-birth control, and anti-choice, among other things. This is the same man who thinks condoms are “too modern.”

In protest, many people, including celebrities, are passing around Pence’s official contact info. They are using it to donate to the women’s health clinic, Planned Parenthood, in his name. Pence will get a certificate for it with each donation.

People are putting their money where their tweets are. Out of the 160,000 donations Planned Parenthood has received this year, 20,000 of them were in honor of Mike Pence.

This is not the first time Pence’s actions have sparked an online protest. Back in April, the Indiana house passed a bill to require women to pay for burial or cremation of their aborted or miscarried fetuses. Women in the state began calling Pence’s office to give him status updates in their menstrual cycles.

In 2011, Pence had this to say about Planned Parenthood in an interview with Politico:

“If Planned Parenthood wants to be involved in providing counseling services and HIV testing, they ought not be in the business of providing abortions. As long as they aspire to do that, I’ll be after them.”

Planned Parenthood definitely appreciates the support:

The organization has gotten a lot of flack for proving abortions. Trump and Pence want to see the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade overturned, which would leave the abortion rules up to the states.

Luckily, it is not that easy to overturn a Supreme Court precedent even if Trump appoints conservative judges. Let’s hope that Trump and Pence don’t succeed with this.

Here are the Young Turks covering the issue:
