Keep On Protesting! Americans Fight To Protect US And The First Amendment (VIDEOS)

The enthusiasm of a free speech explosion is here. The recent election has jolted everyone in this country from all walks of life. The far Right thinks they have a new lease on power, the established Conservatives are worried about President-elect Donald Trump’s unpredictability, and the Liberals see a man riding a wave of racism, lies and misogyny.

Liberals and Progressives are making their voices heard, and it has been interesting to see the response from Conservatives to the continued protests.

Facebook posts complaining about how these protesters are not working to bring unity, or that they just need to “suck it up and deal with it.”

Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway keeps asking for President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton to do something about the protests.

She conveniently ignores the fact that the protests are against Trump, not Obama and Clinton.

The people who are complaining about the protests have a selective memory about the First Amendment, so to remind everyone, it goes like this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

A significant part of this is that there are times when people will say things you do not want to hear.

Many who complain about the protests have forgotten, or refuse to acknowledge, what has been said over the last eight years about President Obama.

The entire Tea Party movement is a protest against him, and every rally was, and is, an expression of their First Amendment rights.

I support their right to vocalize their objections, even though I don’t agree with anything they say. This even extends to things like the birther movement and Obama/Hitler signs.

Obama and Hitler compared
The Atlantic

Both are totally ridiculous, but I just never dreamed this would be the basis for a successful presidential campaign.

I Have A Major Request For The Protesters

Peacefully organize and express your opinions loud and clear, but do not descend into violence. Be a thorn in Trump’s side; as we have already seen, he is easily distracted when he imagines people oppose him.

He is in way over his head, and is already waffling and indecisive. One thing Hillary Clinton needed was enthusiasm from the voters backing her.

We saw deafening crowds on Trump’s side, and much of this enthusiasm grew out of the Tea Party.

We have to admit, the Tea Party got it done and their man is in the White House, but the good news is that the history of this country proves the rhetoric and hate from the Tea Party can be defeated.

Is this a setback? Sure.

But compare this with where to our culture was 10, 50 or a 100 years ago.  By all means, make this a call to action and keep this enthusiasm going.

What do we do?

Simple.  We have a mid-term election in 2018 which can be a repudiation of everything Trump and his ilk stands for.

“We won’t elect Trump,” we assumed. Let me be honest, that’s a hard pill to swallow.

Continue to be vocal and vote at every opportunity.
