Donald Trump, you don’t want to mess with Nancy Pelosi. It was announced that Trump has named avowed white nationalist and anti-Semite Stephen Bannon as the Chief Strategist for the White House.
Nancy Pelosi released a statement regarding the Bannon pick saying:
“After winning the presidency but losing the popular vote, President-elect Trump must try to bring Americans together – not continue to fan the flames of division and bigotry.”
For those unfamiliar with Bannon, he was the executive chairman of Breitbart News, an alt-right website. He was also the CEO of the Trump campaign.
Appointing Bannon as the Chef Strategist will not bring anyone together. Pelosi explains:
“Bringing Steve Bannon into the White House is an alarming signal that President-elect Trump remains committed to the hateful and divisive vision that defined his campaign. There must be no sugarcoating the reality that a white nationalist has been named chief strategist for the Trump Administration.”
The hate must stop and Democrats must be the ones to make sure it stops. We must band together and find people like this, even if they are playing key roles in the White House. For this, Pelosi said:
“Democrats are committed to finding common ground for hard-working families. But we will stand our ground and strongly oppose attempts by this Administration to scapegoat and persecute Americans because of who they are, how they worship, or who they love.”
It isn’t just the Democrats questioning this move either. John Weaver, who advised Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s 2016 presidential campaign, tweeted his thoughts on this:

We can only hope that Nancy Pelosi and the fellow Democrats in Congress and the Senate double down on their stance against this kind of hate in the White House.
