Bernie Sanders: Backs Trump Protest, Possibly Run In 2020?

Across America, protests have broken out due to Donald Trump winning the 2016 election. All of the Trump protests have taken different forms – some have decided to riot, some have denounced the Electoral College, and a select few have decided to tattoo their distaste. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) supports the Trump protests and questions the role of the Electoral College.

Understanding Trump’s Appeal from the Democratic Side

In an interview with USA Today, Sanders spoke of a Trump presidency and why many support him. He discussed a frustrating reality that tends to be overlooked by many, especially Democrats. Even though Trump’s initial performance was weak and was full of bravado, he tapped into the uncertainty of job prospects for those living in middle America. They feel left behind by the economy, and Trump represents a possible resurgence of manufacturing and industrial jobs that aren’t coming back.

Network television seems to be fixated on political gossip, with Sanders saying that the corporate media overlooks actual policies proposed by Hillary Clinton or Trump, instead focusing on political gossip and emails. There are advertising dollars being made tearing into Clinton’s servers and Trump’s many faux pas, and the conglomerates are doing a disservice to the American people by trading ad dollars for hollow and false stories.

Bernie Sanders’ Call for a Profound Change Of The Democratic Platform

The Republicans have been doing a great job of winning elections – they now control and occupy the Senate, the House, and now the president’s seat. Republicans have a track record of attempting to grant tax breaks for the ultra rich, gut social programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security; and elect politicians that don’t believe in the very real threat of climate change. The Democratic party has to learn how Republicans win so often when their platforms are so wrong.

Sanders answered one of the burning questions at the dawn of Trump’s election – will he run for president again in 2020? “You know, it’s conceivable that I may fly to the moon.”
