Just yesterday, I wrote a piece about the KKK in North Carolina planning a march to celebrate Donald Trump’s presidential victory. They’re not the only hate group that’s partying right now, though. Another neo-Confederate white supremacist group – the League of the South – is beside themselves with glee.
‘No Mercy’
On November 9, 2016, as many of us were in mourning for our country, Michael Hill, President of the League of the South, posted the following statement on their website:
“Once the globalist-progressive coalition of Jews, minorities, and anti-white whites stops reeling in confusion from the results of yesterday’s election, we can expect them to start striking back with trickery and violence. Thus, we as Southern nationalists face both danger and opportunity.
Now, more than ever, we need tight organization and numbers to help drive a stake through Dracula’s heart and keep him from rising once again to menace our people and civilization. No mercy should be shown to the enemies of our God, our Folk, and our civilization. None would be afforded us.”
If you honestly think that the election of Trump has not empowered the racists, you have some serious blinders on. I say that because it’s one of the arguments I’ve heard – that these people have always been out there, spreading their hate, and that this is no different.
While it’s true that these groups did not form in the wake of Trump’s election, it’s not true that this is no different.
They. Are. Empowered.
‘You Have Been Given A Reprieve By God’
The following day, Hill continued his diatribe singing the praises of Trump:
“It is commonplace for the victor in a hotly-contested political race to offer an olive branch to the loser in the form of a pledge to work together and govern in the interests of everyone. This might work in a homogeneous society in which most of the fundamental things are agreed upon by both the winning and losing sides. However, in modern multicultural, multi-racial America it will not work.
[…]
In the immediate aftermath of his victory, Donald Trump offered that olive branch to the left. Let’s hope he’s not serious.
So here is my warning to the victors: do not go back to sleep and think all is well … You have been given a reprieve by God (probably undeservedly so); do not give your enemies and His a reprieve.
[…]
You, by God’s grace, may have been given a short reprieve from this scenario. Redeem the time! As for me, I recommend that we get busy with Southern independence. We need our own country, and it must be run by us for our own interests. It must once again be White Man’s Land.”
In a different post, written the same day, Hill said:
“My advice to President-elect Trump is simple: don’t negotiate with serpents; you’ll get bitten. Listen to the truth, sir: your enemies, if given the chance, will destroy you and everything you purport to represent. Treat them like the danger they are. Serve those who put you where you are.”
Those of us on the left need to come together against this type of hate. Reach out to the vulnerable. Wear a safety pin. Be active in social justice. Donate money and time to progressive groups. Call, write, and email your elected representatives. Do your part to stand up to hate.
