Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his surrogates have made several claims that the November 8th election day will be “rigged.” Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was recently confronted on CNN’s State of the Union with her own words regarding Trump’s claims.
Appearing on Sunday’s episode, Conway clashed with host Jake Tapper over the veracity of these claims. Tapper tells Conway that there evidence shows voter fraud is an incredibly uncommon issue in the United States, and then had this to say to her:
“Back in April when you were working against Donald Trump, when you were working for Ted Cruz and advising his super PAC, you had some tough words for Mr. Trump when he was lashing out at the time against the system being rigged.”
Tapper proceeded to play a clip from an interview Conway did with CNN’s Don Lemon in April. Conway had to watch and defend herself saying this less than seven months ago:
“We hear from the Trump campaign, the rules change, it’s not fair. The system is rigged, the system is corrupt… He can whine and complain all he wants that he didn’t know the rules.”
Tapper then asks Conway the question that he already knows the answer to:
“Is this a pattern with Mr. Trump? If he starts losing, he starts lashing out and calling the system corrupt and calling it rigged?”
Conway, through a plastered on smile that seems to indicate she cannot wait for this election to come to an end, tries to turn an entitled, racist, alleged sexual offender into the good guy:
“His entire campaign is built about the little guy being the victim, the forgotten man and forgotten woman being the victim of the rigged corrupt system. Let’s keep the focus there. That’s who he’s fighting for. I know so many in the media like to just dismiss the crowd sizes. Let me tell you something, you go out on the road with Donald Trump, this election doesn’t feel over.”
This has been one of the most fatiguing elections in recent memory. My guess is no one is more excited for election day than Kellyanne Conway. Check out her whole exchange from Sunday’s State of the Union below:
