Ruth Bader Ginsburg Has A New Job And Its FABULOUS

While the rest of the country is up in arms over the controversial and scandalous 2016 Presidential election, Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is preparing for her operatic debut in Gaetano Donizetti’s, “The Daughter of the Regiment.”

For just one star-spangled night the lady of the legal system will wow the crowd as the Duchess of Krakenthorp, similar to the elderly widow in Marx Brothers movies. The Duchess is a character known for its high humor content, and some of the lines have been changed to fit Justice Ginsburg’s personality.

The honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be joining a long list of amazing women that have played the part of Krakenthorp including Bea Arthur and Hermione Gingold. She has always loved the opera and has been known to talk about her one regret being that she was not the operatic star she had dreamed of; mostly because she cannot sing. Justice Ginsburg often discussed opera and the law and grew up dreaming of a life on the stage surrounded with beautiful music and an adoring audience.

Justice Ginsburg will be wearing a specially made costume that includes a hat with a large feather topping made by the WNO.

Initially, the Supreme Court Justice had been asked to do all eight shows at the Kennedy Center, but she declined since she still has a “day job.” Instead, Ginsburg will appear in costume and humor in the opening night performance. When asked if she was nervous, Justice Ginsburg replied with a giggle:

“What’s to be nervous about?”

Opening night of “The Daughter of the Regiment” is scheduled for November 12th, and we wish Ruth Bader Ginsburg good luck on her operatic debut!
