Former RNC Chairman: ‘I Was Damn Near Puking’ Watching Trump (VIDEO)

In what can only be seen as further evidence of a full-on, pants-on-fire GOP melt down, Michael Steele, the man who led the Republican Party between 2009 and 2011, has announced that he will not vote for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. It seems that even as Trump debated on stage Steele was suffering a crisis of conscience.

Debated Apology

It was all too much for him. To watch in mute agony as his beloved party descended into debase insults, juvenile tantrums, and lies so transparent that birds swooping from the rafters were breaking their necks on them. Speaking to BuzzFeed he said

“He has captured that racist underbelly, that frustration, that angry underbelly of American life and gave voice to that.”

BuzzFeed also reported that Steele believes Trump represents only a small percentage of the Republican Party.

It is a stunning indictment of just how low the GOP has sunk that the significance of such a statement barely registers on our built-in shock-o-meter anymore. Still, we’ve got to try.

Right?

Because one of the most senior figures in the GOP just pointed out the white-elephant in the room. He just admitted to something that most sensible people have known for some time.

That the party of Lincoln has become the party of racists.

Three Little Piggies

Steele is the third former Republican National Committee Chairman to say he won’t support Trump.

Mel Martinez distanced himself last February, shortly after Trump lied about having no idea who KKK leader David Duke was.

Marc Racicot is made of sterner stuff though.

It wasn’t until last June, shortly after the Trump campaign’s attempt to politicize the Orlando massacre, that he realized what a dangerous and immoral lunatic Trump really is.

But even the cast iron constitution of Steele – a man who stood by his (baby) man through allegations of sexual abuse, the hiring of antisemitic hate peddlers , celebrity Twitter wars and lunatic foreign policy ideas – has his limits.  Not even he could stomach the GOP’s great orange hope as he postured on stage, issuing absurd edicts as if this was Caligula’s Rome instead of the U.S.A.

He said:

“I was damn near puking during the debates.”

Yes, thanks for that. Slow clap all round.

Just one thing.

You’re a little late to that particular party are you not?
