Close Obama Confidant Answers The Question: ‘Will Michelle Obama Run For Office?’

David Axelrod, chief strategist for President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns, told radio host Hugh Hewitt that Michelle Obama’s run for office was not something he saw in her future.

Axelrod admitted that one of the most asked questions, especially recently, has been whether Mrs. Obama will run for office in the future. He stated:

“People say to me all the time well, do you think she might run for office sometime? I would bet everything that I own against that prospect.”

After Michelle Obama spent two terms as FLOTUS pushing for rights for children, uplifting young girls, changing the way our kids eat, and much much more, the country has absolutely fallen in love with her. Her recent adventure on the Hillary Clinton campaign trail has ignited those fond feelings for the first lady all over again, and her speeches have touched the souls of almost everyone who has listened.

It is well known that Mrs. Obama has never been fond of bipartisan politics and Axelrod believes that in itself will rule out her run for office. Axelrod spoke of Michelle Obama’s sacrifices saying:

“She was a reluctant conscript to politics. I mean, when Michelle, you know, she had her own sort of professional life, and she was very committed, as she is now, to the kids.”

Mrs. Obama rides the campaign trail not out of duty but because she truly believes that Hillary is the best woman for the job. Axelrod expresses, however, that Obama will be happy when it is all over, and she can withdraw from the public eye for a bit.

Though our hopes for another Obama in the White House may be something that isn’t in our future, it doesn’t stop others from speaking up about how amazing it would be to have Michelle Obama in office. Thomas Bowen, the former adviser to Chicago Mayor Emanuel, told reporters:

“There is no person in politics that I think Democrats, independents, and Republicans would love to see take on public service more than the first lady.”

Maybe she will change her mind after four years of the quiet life.
