When Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slyly suggested that his followers might use a “Second Amendment Solution” if Democrat Hillary Clinton is elected, he knew they would take him seriously.
He knew when he urged his followers to attack protesters they’d do it.
Now that the shameless bully is insisting that the upcoming election will be corrupt, he is urging his followers to take action.
They are planning to do exactly that.
One particularly rabid Trump loyalist didn’t hesitate when a Wall Street Journal reporter asked him how he would react to a Clinton win. The man is named Dan Bowman, a fact that he felt perfectly comfortable disclosing.
He told the reporter this:
“I feel like Hillary needs to be taken out. If she gets in the government, I’ll do everything in my power to take her out of power. If I have to be a patriot, I will.”
The shocked reporter probed to make sure he’d heard correctly. He asked Bowman what he meant. The Trump fan has apparently been learning from his boss, because he tried to slide out of a direct answer, telling the reporter to take it any way he’d like to take it.
Pushing some more, the interviewer told the man that it sounded like the man was making a physical threat.
His answer?
“I’m a patriot.”
The same guy was quoted as saying that he believed Clinton should be either jailed or shot.
This terrorist believes that he would be a patriot if he murdered the legally elected President of the United States.
What. The. Hell.
The situation that Donald Trump has created in this country is more frightening than anything I have seen in my lifetime.
What is especially dangerous is the empowerment that Trump’s followers feel because of his violent talk. They are willing to go on camera making threats of violence if their candidate loses. They feel comfortable giving their names to reporters from major newspapers.
These people have been given the green light to attack and even kill those they see as political opponents.
Donald Trump has given them that sense of freedom. The Republican Party that has been watching this all unfold for the last six months has played a huge part in this situation.
If in fact Secretary Clinton wins the presidential election and there is blood spilled in the aftermath, Trump and everyone who has failed to denounce him will share the blame.
