Did Shep Smith Just Come Out As Gay? (VIDEO)

If you Google Shep Smith right now, you will likely be seeing articles saying Fox News Anchor Shep Smith came out as gay. However, Smith has not used the words “I’m gay.”

This story came from an interview Smith did about Roger Ailes leaving the network. Ailes left the network this summer after the women on the network accused him of sexual harassment. Officially, he resigned, but it was not voluntary.

An interviewer talking to Shep Smith asked if Ailes had ever forced Smith to stay in the closet or if Smith was subjected to any homophobic slurs.

Smith said:

“That’s not true. He was as nice as he could be to me. I loved him like a father. I trusted him with my career and with ― I trusted him and trusts were betrayed. People outside this company can’t know [how painful that betrayal was]. This place has its enemies, but inside, it was very personal, and very scarring and horrifying.”

He continued:

“… He treated me with respect, just respect. I wasn’t new in the business when I came here ― I’d been doing reporting for 12 years ― but I wasn’t old in it either, and he gave me every opportunity in the world and he never asked anything of me but that we get it right, try to get it right every day. It was a very warm and loving and comfortable place.”

Yes, he was talking about whether he was asked to remain in the closet, but that doesn’t 100 percent confirm that Shep Smith is gay. Anyone can call another person gay or make slurs or ask them to remain in the closet. Smith hasn’t actually said the words, “I’m gay.”

The fact that he is defending serial harasser, Roger Ailes, is more shocking. Ailes supposedly made passes at several of the women on the network. Gretchen Carlson recorded Ailes making a pass at her. The other Fox News anchors had similar stories.

Here is Shep talking about same-sex marriage last year. The YouTube show, Secular Talk, reported it:
