Just last month, GOP nominee Donald Trump finally got around to admitting that his repeated claims of President Obama not being born in the United States were indeed wrong. Trump announced:
“President Barack Obama was born in the United States.”
Then we arrive at a Trump rally in Maine yesterday, and as Trump was bloviating about Hillary Clinton and Syrian refugees, Trump told the crowd:
“She wants 550 percent more coming in from Syria than the thousands and thousands that our president, quote president, has coming in.”
Yes, the Republican candidate for the White House made air quotes around the word “president” as a way of trying to delegitimize the twice elected President of the United States who currently has a 55 percent approval rating and would likely win a third term in office if he could run. Let’s not forget that Donald Trump first made his name on the political scene five years ago by spreading this same lie about President Obama, creating the birther movement almost by himself. He certainly kept the ludicrous conspiracy theory alive with his repeated reiteration of the lie. But that should come as no surprise to any of us, because Donald Trump’s entire life is built on a lie. He says he’s a great businessman but his daddy had to float him $38 million to guarantee he didn’t lose his ass.
As we draw closer to Election Day, we see Trump lying with every breath he takes. He now says he has never sexually assaulted a woman, but his own words to Access Hollywood prove that to be fiction. He says he wants to make America great again but in the next breath he tries to suggest the entire election is rigged and no one in Washington can be trusted.
It’s time to flush Donald Trump down the toilet and rid our republic of this existential threat to everything we cherish as Americans.
