‘I Have Paid Taxes Since I Was 13’: Trump LIES Saying Warren Buffett Avoids Taxes, Buffett Produces Returns

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump lies. He lies frequently and unapologetically.

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, a Hillary Clinton supporter who was referenced multiple times during Sunday’s debate as another billionaire who does not pay his fair share of taxes, does not want Trump to lie about him.

During Sunday’s debate, Trump essentially admitted to not paying federal income taxes since 1995. Moderator Anderson Cooper asked if he used a reported $916 million dollar loss to avoid paying income tax for years, and Trump responded with:

“Of course I do. Of course I do… I absolutely used it. And so did Warren Buffet and so did George Soros and so did many of the other people that Hillary is getting money from.”

Warren Buffett released a statement shortly thereafter, detailing his taxes. Some of the highlights of the report Buffett released are:

  • Not once using the carryforward tax option that Trump seems to think all rich people use
  • Paying federal income tax every year since 1944, when he owed $7 as a 13-year-old boy
  • Donating over $2.8 billion to charity in 2015, of which just over $3 million was claimed as a deduction
  • Claiming he is currently being audited by the IRS and still has no issue releasing his own tax return

Buffett is an extremely outspoken liberal and huge supporter of Hillary Clinton. He is also listed as the third richest person in the world, behind only Bill Gates and Amancio Ortega. He frequently calls for the mega rich to pay more in taxes and to donate considerable wealth to the less fortunate.

Donald Trump routinely dodges questions about releasing his own taxes by claiming he cannot do it while under audit. This claim has been repeatedly debunked. He has also stated that there is nothing to learn from his tax returns, which also makes us wonder why he will not just release them.
