As far as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is concerned, the disgusting remarks he made on a hot mic 10 years ago don’t reflect who he is today.
According to just about everyone else, they offer the kind of pixel-perfect level of clarity usually reserved for NASA space telescopes. Just days after Oscar-winning actor Ron Howard took to Twitter to debunk Trump’s apology in the most scathing of terms, a multitude of women have decided to share their experiences of Trump’s lechery.
Some As Young As Fifteen
Indeed, earlier today, four former contestants of the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant, came forward with their story. They allege that Trump walked into their dressing room while they were getting changed. And some of the girls were as young as 15.
Former Miss Vermont Teen USA Mariah Billado, told BuzFeed:
“I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, oh my god, there’s a man in here.”
Trump’s response was typical of a man who has repeatedly failed to grasp how inappropriate his behavior is. He allegedly told the teenagers:
“Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before.”
Of That Trump, We Have No Doubt.
It’s not like this is the first time he’s faced such accusations.
In recordings released by CNN, Trump could be heard bragging to Howard Stern about how funny it all was. He said:
“Well, I’ll tell you the funniest is that before a show, I’ll go backstage and everyone’s getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it. You know, I’m inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good.”
For one the girls, who asked to remain anonymous, everything was most certainly not good. At only 17, she felt unsure how to respond to Trump’s appearances. She said:
“At the time, you’re a teenager, you’re intimidated — it’s Donald Trump, he runs the pageant and it felt like it was his given right to enter the dressing rooms.”
Ivanka Was Unsurprised
Ivanka Trump, who was co-hosting the pageant that year, was not in the least bit surprised by her father’s behavior. According to BuzzFeed, Billado told Ivanka about:
Yeah, we know.
We also know that the GOP’s great orange hope just doesn’t seem to understand how such behavior makes him unqualified to hold office. Deliberately bursting in on women when they are changing is no laughing matter.
It’s a form of sexual assault.
