Alec Baldwin may want to go ahead and clear off some shelf space for the Emmy Award he will almost certainly win for his spot-on impression of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live.
Last night, SNL opened with a brief re-enactment of this week’s vice presidential debate between Tim Kaine and Mike Pence. That was soon interrupted by a “Breaking News” announcement about Trump’s sexist comments on Access Hollywood. And that’s when Baldwin appeared as Trump, looking into the camera and asking:
“Are you not entertained?”
A CNN anchor–SNL cast member Cecily Strong–then asked if Trump had anything to say. Baldwin replied he wanted to “apple-gize” if he offended anyone, which led Strong to ask:
“Are you trying to say ‘apologize?'”
Just as you would expect the real Trump to respond, Baldwin replied:
“No, I would never do that. What I am doing is apple-gizing to all the people who were offended by my statements. But more importantly, to the people who were turned on by them. I hear it’s really 50/50.”
Later in the mock interview, Baldwin told Strong:
“I’m tired of talking about me, okay? We need to move forward and focus on the serious issues. I’d like to send condolences and prayers to everyone affected by Hurricane Matthew. I love the people of Florida. And I hope that they stay safe. I hope the people in Florida stay safe.”
Strong softened and told the fake Trump:
“Wow. That was actually a very nice thing to say, Mr. Trump. Thank you for being here.”
Baldwin/Trump:
“Thank you for having me.
“Let me tell you something. I wish that I was that hurricane, tearing through all that hot Miami pussy. I would just destroy it.”
Yep, another hot mic moment.
