After a tumultuous few days, the Republican National Committee, or RNC, has reached out to various mail vendors through email and requested they put a stop to all Donald Trump “Victory” programs.
The email, initially reported by Politico, was entitled “Hold On All Projects,” and contained instructions to stop all mailings until further notice. Lauren Toomey, a staffer for the RNC’s political department allegedly wrote:
“Please put a hold/stop on all mail projects right now. If something is in production or print, it needs to stop. Will update you when to proceed.”
This email comes on the heels of a media frenzy where audio tapes were released revealing Donald Trump’s sexist and harassing thoughts on women, as well as giving proof to sexual harassment and assault incidences in the past.
The RNC is also rumored to have called upon their lawyers to review the possibility of replacing Trump as the candidate and what the repercussions of those actions would be. However, it has been made known by these lawyers that nothing can be done to replace Trump without his full cooperation, something they know they will not have.
Several members of the Republican party have called for Trump’s withdraw from the race for President, but Trump made it very clear that he will not quit. Other prominent Republicans have unendorsed Trump and will be taking their vote elsewhere. Even Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, has been found backing out of political events and staying low key in the media during this time.
It seems the party is going to wait and see what happens over the next 24 hours including the debate scheduled for Sunday evening. Whichever decision the Republican party makes it is safe to say that Trump’s political career has ended before it ever got started.
