Chaffetz Speaks Out Against Trump — Will He Back Hillary Now? (VIDEO)

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the Republican congressman that lead the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, has decided he can no longer support Donald Trump.

After the unaired footage of Donald Trump’s extremely vulgar comments made it’s way into public view, Chaffetz immediately recanted his support of Trump for multiple reasons. Chaffetz told CNN:

“My wife, Julia and I, we have a 15-year-old daughter. Do you think I can look her in the eye and tell her that I endorsed Donald Trump for president when he acts like this and his apology? That was no apology; that was an apology for getting caught.”

In case you missed it because it was so brief, Trump later issued a nonchalant apology pushing the comments off as nothing more than “locker-room banter.” Chaffetz replied to this apology by stating:

“This was not just locker talk — this was offensive. I can’t tell the good people of Utah that I endorsed a person who acts like this.”

After CNN reporter, Don Lemon, repeatedly asked Chaffetz if he thought Trump should step aside, Chaffetz finally answered saying:

“Well, I do think (Trump’s running mate) Mike Pence should be at the top of the ticket. I really do … he is a person of high moral fiber.”

Chaffetz went on to talk about how he felt bad for the country during this election, and the American people would have to figure this one out on their own. Chaffetz made it very clear he still wouldn’t be giving his vote to Hillary Clinton, but gave no indication of where his loyalties would land after this scandal.

Between Trump’s questionable, at best, moral standards and now this incredibly lewd showing of sexism and inappropriate behavior, there are sure to be Republicans jumping ship as soon as they possibly can. Let’s just hope their favor lands with the Democratic party.
