The rise of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has sparked a huge backlash from people who are against his racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and his ugly orange face. Many groups are coming out against him.
One of the latest major organizations to endorse Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump is the Humane Society. The political arm of the organization said that a Trump presidency:
“…Would be a threat to animals everywhere.”
The Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) published their endorsement two days ago, and it said, in part:
“Troublingly, Donald Jr. has even been floated as a possible Interior Secretary. Both sons at the very least would be Trump’s top advisors and strategists on trophy hunting issues. The risk of having a globe-trotting trophy hunter at or near the helm at Interior, or having the ear of the President, should be a terrifying prospect for any animal advocate. The administration is responsible not only for policies involving hundreds of millions of acres of federal lands, but also wildlife law enforcement, international treaties on trade and conservation, and import policies for wild animal parts and trophies.”
They are pointing to Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who like to hunt endangered and rare species. We don’t need a First Family that is so dangerous for animals.
The Clinton family owned various pets, and the Obamas got Bo when they moved into the White House. Donald Trump never has. If elected, Trump would be the first president since Harry Truman to not have pets.
Also, the HSLF is a lobbying arm of the Humane Society founded in 2004. From their About page:
“…[HSLF] was formed … as a separate lobbying affiliate … that works to pass animal protection laws at the state and federal levels, to educate the public about animal protection issues, and to support humane candidates for office.”
