Republican Senator Immediately Regrets Acknowledging Trump As A Role Model (VIDEO)

Most sane parents across the world are trying their best to shield their impressionable children from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Voting for Trump to be president is insane enough, but claiming he is a great role model for children? Well, that’s just terrifying. It’s like saying a machete is the perfect Christmas gift for a five-year-old with anger issues.

So who said it? Who claimed Donald Trump was a good role model? Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire. During a televised debate on Monday, Ayotte was asked if children should aspire to be Trump.

And this was her response:

“Uh, I, oh, uh, I think that, uh, certainly, uh, there are many role models that we have, and, uh, I, I believe he can serve as president, and so absolutely. I would do that.”

It’s important to note here that Ayotte is currently in a heated and extremely tight re-election race against her Democratic challenger, Gov. Maggie Hassan.

So saying something this ridiculous could lose her the race, which is why she released a statement shortly after the debate was over to address the confusion surrounding her comments.

She now claims there are no role models in this year’s presidential race:

“I misspoke tonight. While I would hope all of our children would aspire to be president, neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton have set a good example, and I wouldn’t hold up either of them as role models for my kids.”

Misspoke? The question wasn’t a complicated one! She was asked if she would point to Trump as a role model and she said she would “absolutely” do that. Did she forget to add a “NOT” after the absolutely?

She’s trying to play it off as a mistake because she knows it’s going to lose her some votes. But really, this is bigger than Ayotte. There are parents out there who truly believe Trump is a great role model for their kids, and that’s scarier than Pumpkin Pie Spice Pringles.

Do you want your children acting like this?
