VIRAL VIDEO: ‘The Hillary Shimmy Song’ Video Is The Best Thing About This Crazy Election

I think it takes a really special person to create joy out of any presidential debate. To have watched the first debate of the current campaign season and to have come out of it with an upbeat song takes a genius. Or an angel.

There’s a guy named Jonathan Mann who calls himself the “Song A Day Man.” He has been writing a song every single day for more than seven years. He records and posts his songs on his website, songaday.org.

The songs on the site are varied in terms of style as well as mood. They’re all pretty clever, though! It’s worth spending some time on there just checking out the little ditties.

The one that has me smiling today is a funny tune that combines clever lyrics and clips of video. Jonathan “Song A Day Man” Mann paid attention to the words that the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees threw at each other during the first debate. He looked closely at the body language and facial expressions of the candidates, too, and when he put it all together, it was hilarious.

The lyrics poke fun at Republican Trump, describing him through the eyes of Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“This dude is coming at me
I just smile and let him be
The dude brought your own rope
He put the bullet in the gun so
I’m just gonna shimmy”

The images are awesome. Clinton’s smiling face on one side of the split screen and the big orange scowl on the left.

The best part? Clinton giving a funny little shoulder shimmy after one of Trump’s crazier statements. That’s the refrain. She grins, blows out a little sound, “Whoo” and then she shimmies.

I’m just so happy to know that there is a musical genius out there making us laugh after the presidential debates. I usually come out of those things wanting to jump on a slow boat to Newfoundland.

One warning before you watch this video: you’ll be singing it in your head all day!
