It’s been obvious for months that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is a master at getting free publicity. He manages to get his bloated orange face on TV all day long by making one outrageous statement after another. He lies so the media will talk about him all day as they try to refute his comments.
He gets up at 3 AM to go on Twitter rants, meaning that the morning news shows are all about him.
Yup. Trump is a genius at getting himself free publicity.
Unfortunately for him, though, he can’t always control who believes his most outrageous comments. He can’t decide which groups of crazies will decide that they want some free publicity, too.
RawStory reports that the neo-Nazis around the country are absolutely delighted to be supporting Donald Trump. Andrew Anglin edits the white nationalist website “Daily Stormer.” He said this:
“Virtually every alt-right Nazi I know is volunteering for the Trump campaign.”
There’s an image for you. Hordes of Nazis knocking on doors to get out the vote for the Orange Menace.
Anglin isn’t alone in his giddy support for the racist, xenophobic candidate. Richard Spencer wants to transform the United States into a “safe space” for white people. He gushed about his adoration for Trump by saying:
“There’s a connection — it isn’t always policy — but a deep visceral, you could say emotional connection between the alt-right and his campaign. I think he does recognize that he has this alt-right army behind him…. I think he also realizes if he backs down, if he stops being combative, he is in danger of losing that.”
If that doesn’t horrify you, its time to take a long, hard look in the mirror. Donald Trump has used his racist attacks to forge a “deep visceral” and very “emotional” connection with the white supremacist alt-right. Anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-Black, the list goes on and on.
Donald Trump has brought his brand of free publicity to some of the most hateful, disgusting elements of our society. He’s gotten these people into the headlines.
This is perhaps the most frightening bit of news to come out of this whole disturbing campaign.
