Most of the pundits and polls weighing in after the first Presidential debate agree that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton whupped the big orange butt of her opponent.
One of the questions leading into the debate had been which candidate is more believable, and more honest. Some of us had a pretty good idea of who was the bigger liar, but its always good to have some hard data to back up our opinions.
Although the moderator, Lester Holt, didn’t do much real time fact checking during the debate, other media sites did.
The best known online fact checker is Politifact, with its well known “Truth-O-Meter.” After last night’s big debate, the Truth-O-Meter was pretty clear. The site rated 19 of Donald Trump’s claims. They found seven to be true, nine to be false and three were found to be half-true.
They also evaluated statements made by Secretary Clinton. Alas, she just isn’t as good a liar as Trump. In her case, 13 of 15 statements were rated true, with one false and one half-truth.
CNN made a similar fact checking analysis. They found that 9 out of sixteen claims made by Trump were false. Yikes! The rest were divided between five that were true and two that were half-true.
Again, Hillary Clinton failed to achieve Trump’s level of Pinocchio noses. CNN found that 14 out of 15 of her claims were true and the other was half-true.
How pitiful. Not a single lie from Clinton as rated by CNN. Clinton is clearly a terrible liar!
ABC News was even more obvious in its findings. They rated Trump’s claims as almost totally lies. Not one was rated as true. Not even one!
This man is a truly accomplished liar. He is like the champion of lying with a straight face. ABC said that ten out of 12 Trump claims were lies. Two were half-true.
Secretary Clinton fell far behind in the “Who is the best liar” competition that made up last night’s debate. She wasn’t even close.
If voters are looking for someone who can make up reality as he goes along, Trump is the guy. If they are looking for a person who manages to repeat lies thousands of times in a row, he’s the guy. If voters want a President who says one thing on Monday and then denies saying it on Tuesday, Trump is the candidate for them.
Donald J. Trump is an angry, self-centered, lying, bragging blowhard. He pretty much broke the Truth-O-Meter last night.
