Trump: ‘I Hope’ Foundation Didn’t Break Any Laws (TWEET/VIDEO)

Surprise, surprise! Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump may have broken the law, but he “hopes” that he hasn’t. He has done some shady things with his “charity” foundation. Donald Trump has been caught using his “charity” to pay his debts, or to buy stupid stuff like paintings of himself.

The Donald had this to say about it:

“Well, I hope so, I mean, my lawyers do it … We give away money, I don’t make anything, I take no salaries, I take no — any costs, I have zero costs, and a lot of money goes through the Trump Foundation into charities. Goes to charities, it doesn’t go to me, it goes to charities.”

A Trump spokesperson, Jason Miller, said:

“Mr. Trump is generous both with his money and with his time … He has provided millions of dollars to fund his Foundation and a multitude of other charitable causes.”

Mike Pence was asked about the Trump foundation in an interview. He just pivoted toward the Clinton Foundation.

He said:

“These answers are all fair game, Chris. But I just wish there was as much interest in the Clinton Foundation.”

It seems like Trump can recover from any gaffe, but this one could land him in some serious trouble. It is finally coming to light thanks to Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold.

Trump has probably broken the law. He was caught reimbursing his campaign fund from the foundation.

Notre Dame law professor, Lloyd Mayer, said:

“They were definitely being very sloppy, and I’d be very interested to know who their lawyers and accountants were because they should have been telling them ‘Don’t do this.’”

The GOP has made such a huge deal about the Clinton Foundation, but they don’t seem to care about the misdeeds of the Donald J. Trump foundation. The Clinton Foundation has stopped taking donations from foreign nationals.

Here is John Oliver’s excellent take on both charities and other campaign scandals:
