Catholic Church: Proposed Ban On Gay ‘Cure’ Therapy Is ‘Religious Persecution’ (VIDEO)

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has tried to bring same-sex marriage equality to Mexico. It has sparked major protests among the Catholic community in the country. Now, they have gone further, and are speaking out against a ban on “conversion therapy,” also known in the world of Catholics as the gay “cure.”

These are the horrible programs that try to force gay people to be straight. They are saying that banning this sickening practice of conversion therapy is “religious persecution.”

A spokesman for Mexico’s Catholic Church, Father Hugo Valdemar, said:

“It is something very serious, the state now determines the sexual behavior of citizens and forbids any attempt to return to normalcy.

“The state prohibits parents from helping their children to solve their sexual doubts and prohibits homosexuals from changing, but if they want to change their sex they fund that atrocity, it’s something diabolic.”

No, Father… Torturing people is not a right you have. Forcing someone to be something they are not is emotional and psychological abuse. Religious freedom doesn’t give you the right to force your religious ways on others, or abuse people. Especially young people.

Conversion therapy is a despicable practice, and it needs to be banned everywhere. Back in July, Chelsea Clinton said this about it:

“I think what I actually found most offensive really ties into me as a mom. The open embrace of conversion therapy in the Republican Party platform ― in other words, child abuse ― to me is the clarion call for all of us to do everything we can to elect my mom, and elect Democrats up and down the ticket.”

What Do They Do In Conversion Therapy?

These are programs, generally targeted toward the young LGBTQ community, generally kids in their teens and early 20s who might have come out at gay, or feel confused. The programs try to force them to be straight. It is also sometimes called “ex-gay therapy” and “psychological abuse.”

There are many different methods of conversion therapy that people have tried over the years. Some mental health professionals have even tried to use electroshock therapy for this purpose.

They perform disgusting experiments on those forced to attend. The American Psychological Association says they do things such as inducing nausea and vomiting or paralysis while showing the person homosexual pornography.

They make heavy use of shame to try and get people to stop having same-sex attractions.

One particularly disgusting practice they use is orgasmic reconditioning. This is basically using masturbation to change what people are aroused by. They “program” the masturbation fantasies. It is done by forcing someone to masturbate to certain images or ideas, and then changing the fantasy image just at the point of orgasm.

They are encouraged to be aroused and/or ejaculate to the images that the therapist wants them to.

This is a horribly harmful practice and needs to be stopped.
