WATCH: Trump’s ‘Successful Businessman’ Myth Totally CRUSHED By Former Secretary Of Labor (TWEET/VIDEO)

Robert Reich is an accomplished economist who worked in the Ford and Carter Administrations, and served as Secretary of Labor during Bill Clinton’s presidency. He attended Dartmouth, Oxford, and Yale. He has written over a dozen books about politics and economic policy in America. He’s a pretty sharp guy.

But there’s one thing that Mr. Reich does not quite understand: Why so many people love Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

So, he asked someone.

While on his daily coffee run, he spotted a man getting out of a car with a Trump bumper sticker, and figured that it was the perfect time to ask an American voter to answer this question for him.

He then relayed their exchange via this Facebook post:

That’s right. An average person who just does the basics and invests in a mutual fund (and nothing else) would end up with almost three times as much money as Trump is supposedly worth now.

So maybe he’s not as successful as his supporters think he is.

In just a few minutes, Reich destroyed the “successful businessman” badge that the Republican nominee has worn like a Medal of Honor during his entire campaign. The fact of the matter is that Donald Trump has four bankruptcies and over 3,000 lawsuits attached to his name.

This isn’t really news, actually. Analysis of Donald Trump’s career and business acumen has been done many times over the years, and the truth behind his empire is mostly braggadocio and good press.

Is being a “good businessman” all it takes to be President of the United States today? I hope not. And if it is, Donald Trump isn’t even a good pick.

Robert Reich’s post is going viral. Hopefully the message will reach more than just the one Donald Trump supporter.

I’m not holding my breath, though.

Watch Robert Reich at work here, debunking Republican austerity measures and the real monetary cost of the war. The guy seriously knows his stuff.
