Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump seems to believe that he can win the election by alienating every single possible constituency.
He has insulted Latinos, Blacks, women, Muslims and even crying babies. He has referred to the leading Generals in our armed forces as “reduced to rubble.”
Now Trump has decided that it won’t hurt his chances of winning if he criticizes law enforcement and homeland security forces.
After the weekend bomb attacks in New York City and in New Jersey, Trump made a phone call to his good friends at Fox News. When they asked him how he would handle this kind of violence, his answer was vintage Trump.
He said that he would end all this terrorism by “profiling” people who came from “that part of the world.”
Sure. Let’s get back to our best racist, Islamophobic ideas, shall we? Just because the old Constitution protects us from exactly that kind of police overreach, why should that stop us? Why not plan to somehow magically watch every one of the millions of people in this country who once lived in “that part of the world,” wherever it might be.
Not only did the big bloviator claim that we should “profile” millions of people, he went even further.
Unbelievable as it may seem, Donald Trump actually stated, on TV, that our police officers “know” who many of the dangerous terrorists are. He said that they ignore the danger posed by those people because they afraid that they will be accused of “profiling.”
What the hell kind of person would say something that blatantly stupid and irresponsible?
Donald Trump proves his ignorance every single day. He proves that he lacks even the most basic understand of the biggest issues in the country. He proves that he is shallow when he jumps on one phrase, like “political correctness” and uses it in all the wrong contexts.
Donald Trump wants voters to believe that the government is completely incompetent, that our military is in shambles, and that our police are unable to do their jobs for fear of being called politically incorrect. He wants them to believe that they are under attack from evil “outsiders.”
Then he wants those same voters to somehow be gullible enough to think that he alone can fix everything.
I know that it isn’t politically correct for me to say this, but it is historically correct. Adolf Hitler told his followers the exact same lies.
