‘I’m Rubber, You’re Glue’- The Schoolyard Bully (VIDEO)

Remember when you were a little kid, and there was that one annoying loudmouth in your class? The one kid who teased the others about every little fault. The one who laughed at you if you fell. When you finally got up the nerve to tell him off, he’d use the stupid little verse that would frustrate you so much you’d finally start to cry. He’d say:

“I’m rubber, you’re glue.

Everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you.”

Immature, stupid, childish behavior. Most of us outgrew it by middle school.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has hung onto it, though. In fact, it’s his only actual campaign strategy. The website The American Prospect is looking at this phenomenon of the 2016 campaign. There are so many instances where accusations against Trump have ended up hurting Clinton instead.

For example, Trump loves to call Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton “crooked.” He is a master at name calling, so he has dubbed his opponenent “Crooked Hillary.”

She’s the crook, he says, even though he’s the one who is being charged with fraud because his fake University was just a scam. His family foundation is a total fake that the candidate uses for his own personal gain, yet Trump has repeated over and over that the Clinton Family Foundation should be investigated.

He’s the crook, but because he repeats his lies about her ethics so often and so loudly, he overrides the facts as if they were nothing but smoke. His followers hang on his every word and repeat the lies themselves, over and over again. That’s how it works. “I’m rubber, you’re glue.”

Look at the whole birtherism scandal. Even though there is video and audio evidence to prove that Clinton and her campaign didn’t start or even take up the question of where Barrack Obama was born, Trump says that her campaign started it. “Well, gee,” the newspeople say to him, “She didn’t actually start it. Here is the actual proof.”

Trump has the secret to winning schoolyard arguments. He just says, “Did so.” He says it over and over. He doesn’t think about or mention the facts; he just keep lying.

Even more frustrating, at least to me, is the way that Trump has managed to shrug off all of his incredibly racist, bigoted comments, without any repercussions. He calls Blacks “lazy.” He is adored by white supremacists. He wants to kick out Mexicans and Muslims.

So how does he respond when he rightfully called a bigot? Does he defend himself, or try to deny that he’s really said and done these things?

Hell, no.

He just turns around and lies with his disturbingly twisted “straight” face. He calls Hillary Clinton a bigot. Conservatives jump all over it.

He’s rubber, she’s glue.

What is more upsetting is the way that Trump’s followers swallow the lies. They take Trump at his word, no matter what. He acts and talks like a bigot; they ignore it. He accuses Clinton of bigotry and they lose their minds.

We better get ourselves together and become the teachers in this scary recess scenario. Somebody better point out real quick that Donald Trump is a lying, bigoted crook, and much, much worse.

If he says that Hillary Clinton wants nuclear war, I’m going to start working on my bomb shelter, because we’ll all know what he’s planning.
