Former President Jimmy Carter Says Trump Brings Out His Supporters’ Inherent Racism (VIDEO)

Former President Jimmy Carter is a very religious man. He is concerned about the “resurgence” of racism in this country.

*Cough-cough…* Trump supporters! *Cough…*

On Thursday, he spoke at the New Baptist Covenant, which he convened in 2007 to unite Baptists of different races.

Carter said:

“I think there will be a positive reaction after this election. I pray it will come out a certain way, but I think there will be a lot of lessons learned. And I think the average person in America now will be looking at how to do better things, how to have a superb American policy on peace and human rights and other aspects of life. I think we’ll raise our standards as a public and I believe our next president will accommodate that inclination.”

He also said that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has:

“… Tapped a waiting reservoir there of inherent racism.”

He said he has 22 members of his family who are all registered to vote. About them, he said:

“They have inherited some genes or something that causes them to look with favor on the New Baptist Covenant and on one of the parties.”

A Gallup poll shows that both Black and White Americans feel that racism against Black people is widespread. The numbers are quite different, though. Among Black people, 82 percent think racism is widespread, but only 56 percent of White people think the same.

He also said:

“We just have to remember that our country is resilient. We’ve always had the ability to correct our mistakes.”

Jimmy Carter was recently voted the favorite ex-President. The poll concluded:

“Pummeled for his presidency but praised for how he conducted his post-White House life, Jimmy Carter far surpasses Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton for what he accomplished once he left the Oval Office.”

Back in July, he celebrated his 70th Anniversary with his wife, Rosalyn Carter.
