Jamie Dimon: ‘Get An Airplane’ ‘Travel To Europe’ ‘Americans Have It Good’ (VIDEO)

Out of touch much, Mr. Dimon?

If you’ve felt that America has seen better times, you’re not alone. The Happy Planet Index gives the country a rank of 108th overall out of 140 countries in total. Specifically, they reference economic inequality as one of the major challenges facing the nation, stating that 1 in 6 Americans live below the poverty line.

You Don’t Know How Good You’ve Got It

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, however, has a slightly different view. Speaking at the Economic Club Of Washington D.C., Dimon explained that America has, in his opinion, “the best hand ever dealt of any country on this planet today ever.” Dimon went on to list all of the qualities he believes make the United States so magnificent. He took care to note that Americans just aren’t grateful for how good they’ve got it:

“Americans don’t fully appreciate what I’m about to say. We have peaceful, wonderful neighbors in Canada and Mexico. We have the biggest military barriers ever built, called the Atlantic and Pacific. We have all the food, water, and energy we will ever need. We have the best military on the planet and we will, for as long as we have the best economy.”

Not content with suggesting that someone had built two of the largest oceans on the planet, though, Dimon included a special jab for all the liberals out there:

“If you’re a liberal, listen closely to me on that one, okay, because the Chinese would love to have our economy.”

Who knew that liberals wanted to hand America’s economy over to China? Dimon went on to list some other outstanding things that America is leading the charge on. He cited the United States’ amazing university system, which, to be fair, is home to 52 of the world’s top 100 universities. He mentioned the rule of law, claiming it to be the most advanced on the planet. He even trotted out a line about the American work ethic, which, while indeed phenomenal, surely isn’t something limited to the States.

Jamie Dimon Says Go To Europe

Dimon could have ended things there and perhaps had a good number of people agree with him, in spite of the minor factual quibbles. Instead, he decided to flippantly handwave the qualms of Americans who may take umbrage with the current state of the country:

“I mean, get an airplane, travel around the world, and go to all these other countries and tell me what you think. Go to Europe. You want to talk about tough regulations and bad politics?”

If only all Americans had the resources to “get an airplane.” While Jamie Dimon has seen his pay increase to a whopping $27 million this year, the median household still hasn’t reached what it was in 2007.
