President Obama Booed At NFL Event On 9/11 Anniversary (TWEETS/VIDEO)

On Sunday, we remembered 9/11 after 15 years. This was also the start of the 2016-2017 NFL football season. The game began with a pre-recorded message from President Barack Obama commemorating 9/11. According to fans, there was a lot of booing when the video played at the stadium.

Twitter users appear to be divided on this issue:

This was at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Both Obama and Giuliani were booed. In the video, it is hard to tell what the reaction is because they turned the cameras to the president’s video message. People on social media reported that there was a lot of booing. When George W. Bush was president, he never got this kind of reaction.

In addition to this message, President Obama also gave an address at the Pentagon. He said, in part:

“We honor the courage of those who put themselves in harm’s way to save people they never knew. We come together in prayer and in gratitude for the strength that has fortified us across these 15 years. And we renew the love and the faith that binds us together as one American family.”

He also said:

“We know that our diversity, our patchwork heritage, is not a weakness. It is still and always will be one of our greatest strengths. The most enduring memorial to those we lost is ensuring the America that we continue to be. That we stay true to ourselves. That we stay true to what’s best in us. That we do not let others divide us.”

For people to boo this man while he’s commemorating 9/11 is just plain disrespectful. Republicans seem to be fine with that, but they are freaking out over Colin Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem. Hypocrites, much?

This is the reason he said he didn’t stand up:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Here is the message that was aired at the game:
