Before the entire internet explodes with conservative conspiracy theories about the health of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, let’s set the record straight.
The New York Times reports that former Secretary of State Clinton has been receiving medical treatment for a cough. Secretary Clinton’s personal physician told the public way back in July of 2015 that her patient was on antihistamines for seasonal allergies.
Today Mrs. Clinton experienced a few moments of feeling overheated and unwell at the 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York City. She left the memorial service early.
Video shows the Secretary looking off balance and weak as she got into her limo. She was assisted by the Secret Service and taken to her daughter’s apartment to rest.
After about an hour and a half, Mrs. Clinton came out of the apartment building looking healthy and strong. She greeted some well wishers, including a little girl who took a picture with the candidate.

This evening, Mrs. Clinton’s doctor explained the situation to the press. She said:
“Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely.”
As everyone knows, the Secretary is in a very contentious election campaign against a rival who does not hesitate to lie, to twist fact and to seize on every opportunity to discredit his opponent. Given those facts, it is no doubt very difficult for Mrs. Clinton to simply take time off to rest when she has pneumonia.
Any normal, healthy, working woman would stay home for a few days if diagnosed with allergy related pneumonia. Any sane working man would do the very same thing.
Credit goes to the Democratic candidate for her refusal to appear “weak” at this critical time in her campaign.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful, though, if Americans could accept that our leaders are actual human beings, and that once in a while one of them gets sick?
We wish Secretary Clinton a chance to rest, and a very speedy recovery.
