New Line Of “Inaction Figures” Immortalizes And Mocks Climate-Denying Politicians (VIDEO)

Who will stand up to the “junk science” and “snobbery” of those who warn about the threats of climate change? It’s climate inaction figures to the rescue!

Inspired by the climate-denial rhetoric of the GOP, the Climate Inaction Figures shrink six prominent Republicans down to action-figure size.

Politicians Immortalized

Each figure comes armed with a unique climate-denial power:

  • Sarah Palin has a drill sword,
  • John Boehner has a cloak of denial;
  • Ted Cruz has an anti-science shield;
  • Mitch McConnell has a coal gauntlet;
  • James Inhofe has a spiked snowball;
  • Chris Christie has a selective vision helmet, and
  • Donald Trump has Twitter (a giant blue bird clutching one of his choice tweets).

The figures also all come with a unique quote etched into a golden coin denying the reality of climate change  – an appropriate gesture towards the fact that what Republicans say about climate change is tied directly to the amount of money they take from the fossil fuel industry.

The financial link between the industry and the GOP are also hilariously rendered in the form of an eighth figure, the Koch Brothers – a two-headed mutant whose secret weapon is “lots and lots of money.”

Unfortunately, the inaction figures are not for sale, although plans are reportedly in the works to make them freely available as 3D printable downloads.

They were designed by Arturo Aranda and Cabot Norton to promote their the Climate Solutionwebsite, which encourages putting a price on carbon emissions by taxing polluters. The site is an extension of the duo’s previous collaboration on the award-winning documentary series Years of Living Dangerously, which educates viewers about the dangers of climate change:

“To highlight the absurdity of doing nothing in the face of catastrophic climate change, we created a line of Climate Inaction Figures – toy-inspired likenesses of prominent public figures who claim, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, that there is no reason to act.”

The project even created an over-the-top ad campaign that evokes all the childhood excitement of playing with real action figures. Check it out:
